Canon U.S.A. Demonstrates Productivity-Enhancing Radiology Solutions and Celebrates Major Milestone at AHRA 2013

Parent Company of Canon U.S.A., Inc., Reaches Significant Healthcare Industry Landmark by Reaching Shipment of 22,000 Digital Radiology Detectors

MELVILLE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Canon U.S.A. Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, today announced it will showcase its line of radiology offerings at the 2013 American Healthcare Radiology Administrators Exposition (AHRA) at the Minneapolis Convention Center (Booth # 502), from July 28 - 31, 2013. Committed to enhancing productivity, supporting patient-first workflows and providing high-quality imaging technologies, Canon will demonstrate a variety of offerings designed to help improve the way industry professionals work and help control costs.

In addition to exhibiting its newest radiology solutions, Canon U.S.A. will celebrate a major milestone, as its parent company, Canon Inc., has reached 22,000 global unit sales of digital radiology (DR) detectors. This is another benchmark for the company, which entered the market in 1997 with the industry's first portable DR system, the CXDI-11 Digital Radiography Detector, and continues to be at the forefront of developing DR solutions.

"Canon's leading-edge imaging technology and its culture of innovation have inspired substantial achievements in the healthcare space," said Tsuneo Imai, senior director and general manager, Healthcare Solutions Division, Business Imaging Systems Group, Canon U.S.A. "Canon Inc.'s latest production and sales milestone reinforces Canon's significance in the industry, while inspiring us to maintain this momentum for years to come. We are excited to celebrate this achievement at AHRA 2013, alongside valued customers and partners, as we demonstrate our breadth of solutions that foster efficiency, support patient care and deliver outstanding image quality."

The current Canon detector portfolio offers a range of solutions for a wide variety of applications. For example, the RadPRO1 line of radiography solutions help healthcare organizations -- whether a high-volume hospital, orthopedic center or private practice - produce high-quality images at low dose. In addition to fixed room solutions, versatile Canon mobile solutions offer DR portability in a variety of modern settings. Canon, through its subsidiary Virtual Imaging, also offers a series of upgrade solutions that can be easily integrated with most standard analog X-ray equipment and selected competitive mobile systems, providing access to the latest DR technology with Canon portable and wireless flat panel detectors.

Canon U.S.A. will feature a variety of these solutions for the healthcare industry at AHRA 2013 , including the

RadPRO D2-50RF Dynamic Digital RF System. Equipped with the innovative Canon CXDI-50RF Dynamic/Static Digital Radiography Detector (the world's first portable dynamic and static sensor panel), this system is a dual-purpose digital imaging solution that performs both digital fluoroscopy and digital radiography. This device offers flexible portable imaging to satisfy the need for a removable digital detector, which is required for high-volume facilities. The protocol driven RadPRO D2-50RF supports the latest in interactive system communication and features auto-positioning to help improve the user workflow. Other solutions to be shown:

Mobile Solutions for Streamlined Workflows and Enhanced Patient Care

Healthcare providers can maximize resources and simplify workflows through a mobile and portable radiology solution from Canon. With its compact and easy-to-maneuver design, the RadPro 40kW Digital Mobile X-ray System provides the flexibility of a radiography room on wheels - to bring the radiography room to the patient and allow administrators to maximize office space by reducing the need to have dedicated rooms for specific procedures.

Convenient Upgrade Kits for Effective, Cost-Conscious Device Management

As the industry continues facing tighter budgets and increased patient demands, Canon's Digital Mobile Upgrade Kits help maximize resources by providing a cost-effective solution that enhances existing radiography devices with the latest digital capabilities. Whether transforming one machine or an entire fleet, these kits provide an affordable option for healthcare professionals interested in bringing outdated existing systems into state-of-the-art systems. Once updated, these devices provide improved imaging capabilities, low-dose examinations and fast processing times.

In addition, Canon U.S.A. will showcase at Booth #502:

  • DR Image Viewer: Created for viewing high-quality images taken with Canon Digital Radiography systems, Canon DR Image Viewer Software is designed to help streamline workflow and maximize throughput.

  • Control Software NE: Made exclusively for the Canon Digital Radiography systems, the CXDI Control Software NE Software is designed to optimize workflow and reduces the steps needed to complete exams.
