Pentagon Issues $254 Million in Contracts Friday
The Department of Defense issued a grand total of five contracts on Friday, three of which concerned securing "food and beverage" services for the troops. Of the remaining two contracts, both went to foreign contractors:
Britain's BAE Systems won a $110.8 million undefinitized contract modification to perform work on the landing helicopter dock USS Wasp (LHD 1) while it is in drydock from 2013 through May 2014.
A subsidiary of Germany's Fresenius SE & Co. was awarded a $67.8 million first-year option exercise (out of seven option years that may be exercised) for supplying "various" pharmaceutical products to the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and federal civilian agencies. Fresenius's contract runs through July 29, 2014.
