Pentagon Awards $1.246 Billion in Contracts Thursday
The Department of Defense awarded 21 contracts Thursday, worth just under $1.246 billion in combined value. The bulk of the awards went to privately owned contractors to pay for such logistical and construction works as the building of a new barracks at West Point, maintenance works in the continental U.S., and infrastructure design and engineering works. However, there were a few individual contracts, going out to publicly traded firms, worth noting. For example:
FLIR Systems subsidiary ICx Technologies won a $21.8 million contract modification to support the U.S. Army's Joint Program Manager for Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Contamination Avoidance (JPM NBC CA) program.
URS Federal Services was awarded $19.6 million in exercise of the second option year on a contract to perform hazardous materials management services for the Defense Logistics Agency in Maryland, Florida, North Carolina, and California through July 27, 2016. Two one-year option periods remain to be exercised under this contract.
Raytheon won a $16.7 million contract modification to provide depot-level diagnostics and repair of Army Patriot missile systems.
Lockheed Martin was awarded a contract not to exceed $13 million in value, to fund advanced procurements necessary to build a C-130J-30 aircraft for later delivery to Israel.
BAE Systems won a $9.2 million contract modification to provide engineering services in support of the MK 41 vertical launching system through September 2013.
