Myers Industries Proudly Supports the 2013 FirstEnergy All-American Soap Box Derby

AKRON, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Myers Industries, Inc. (NYS: MYE) is once again an official sponsor of the FirstEnergy All-American Soap Box Derby, representing this popular international racing event during its 76th year of existence. As a presenting partner of the tented service pit area, Myers will support derby officials as they properly weigh, align, adjust and make necessary repairs to the participant's cars prior to the race on Saturday, July 27.

Established in 1934, the Soap Box Derby has a long history in our local community. The simple act of children racing homemade cars for fun evolved into the worldwide phenomenon it is today, with participants from over 40 states and five countries converging on Derby Downs in Akron each summer to compete for the top prize - being crowned a champion.

"The All-American Soap Box Derby has been a proud Akron tradition for many years and Myers Industries is once again honored to help young racers learn, grow and achieve their dreams," said John C. Orr, President and Chief Executive Officer of Myers Industries.

"We are thrilled to have Myers Industries as a partner again for the FirstEnergy All-American Soap Box Derby," said President and CEO of the International Soap Box Derby Joe Mazur. "Last year, thanks to our partnership, we were able to provide a covered pit area for the champs to work on their cars. It was a huge success and everyone was very appreciative that they could safely work beneath a tent."
