ABB Beats Up on Analysts Yet Again
ABB (NYS: ABB) reported earnings on July 25. Here are the numbers you need to know.

For the quarter ended June 30 (Q2), ABB met expectations on revenues and beat expectations on earnings per share.
Compared to the prior-year quarter, revenue grew. Non-GAAP earnings per share increased significantly. GAAP earnings per share increased significantly.
Margins increased across the board.
ABB logged revenue of $10.23 billion. The 16 analysts polled by S&P Capital IQ expected revenue of $10.21 billion on the same basis. GAAP reported sales were 5.8% higher than the prior-year quarter's $9.66 billion.

EPS came in at $0.38. The five earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ predicted $0.36 per share. Non-GAAP EPS of $0.38 for Q2 were 15% higher than the prior-year quarter's $0.33 per share. GAAP EPS of $0.33 for Q2 were 18% higher than the prior-year quarter's $0.28 per share.

For the quarter, gross margin was 29.6%, 20 basis points better than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 11.6%, 120 basis points better than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was 7.5%, 70 basis points better than the prior-year quarter. (Margins calculated in GAAP terms.)
Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $9.93 billion. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is $0.37.
Next year's average estimate for revenue is $41.34 billion. The average EPS estimate is $1.45.
