Calpine (NYS: CPN) reported earnings on July 25. Here are the numbers you need to know.

EPS came in at -$0.07. The eight earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ predicted $0.06 per share. Non-GAAP EPS were -$0.07 for Q2 versus $0.03 per share for the prior-year quarter. GAAP EPS were -$0.16 for Q2 against -$0.70 per share for the prior-year quarter.

For the quarter, gross margin was 20.0%, much better than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 7.3%, much better than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was -4.5%, much better than the prior-year quarter. (Margins calculated in GAAP terms.)
Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $1.93 billion. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is $0.56.
Next year's average estimate for revenue is $6.64 billion. The average EPS estimate is $0.58.
