Calling All Foodies: PAPER Magazine Announces the Return of the Second-Annual
SUPER(DUPER)MARKET

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND! PAPER returns for the second year with its now legendary Super(Duper)Market. Curated by PAPER Editor and Publisher Kim Hastreiter, the pop-up shop is back and yummier than ever, taking place from August 1 - 4, with more than 35 amazing vendors from across the country. Food lovers will be in for a treat, as the 4,000-square-foot space at 268 Mulberry Street is transformed into a super-hip, super-special, fully functioning fantasy grocery market.

Once again, PAPER is working with Target and The Blue Cash Preferred® Card and the Blue Cash Everyday® Card from American Express to create the ultimate destination for New York foodies. The pop-up will feature an eclectic mix of some of the newest and coolest indie and artisanal food products from a hand-picked group of amazing purveyors, artisans, food specialists, artists and even a few of our favorite eccentric retailers.

"The collision of food and culture is upon us. You'd have to be living under a rock not to notice that young, creative kids all around the world are obsessed with food like never before—where it comes from, how it's farmed, distributed, prepared and enjoyed—spawning a huge cultural and even sub-cultural movement," said Hastreiter. "Wondering why the old-school fast food paradigm is quickly losing market share to a new healthier, sustainable and humane version? It's because below the radar these young innovators have banded together in powerful social communities that demand and embrace natural quality ingredients and ethical production as the new normal of what they consume and cook with. I'm super excited to bring this cultural chaos to life at my second annual Super(Duper)Market, which I have once again filled with the most inventive food creators, makers and small batch products I could find."

The second-annual "alternative supermarket" will feature unique packaged and prepared foods for sample and sale as well as special items from more than 35 of Hastreiter's favorite small purveyors from across the USA. This year's vendors come from far and wide and include products from Springfield, Missouri's legendary Askinosie Chocolate; Jake Goodby will once again bring the most unique ice cream on earth from Humphry Slocombe in San Francisco; PAPER's favorite Kombucha will also be on hand from Health-Ade in Los Angeles, and Portland's Pok Pok will be selling their amazing vinegar drinks. From our own hometown, we welcome Christina Tosi's Momofuku Milk Bar, yummy salsas and dips from La Esquina, Cynthia Rowley's black cotton candy and edible dishes from her CuRious Candy shop, the most beautiful pies we've ever seen from Cutie Pies, green tea confections fromFred's Marshmallows, yummy soups from The Splendid Spoon, vintage kitchenware from Screaming Mimis, Canadian maple syrup, salt and camping dishes from Best Made Company, stellar fish and horseradish from TheGefilteria, crazy New Orleans-style shaved ice from Imperial Woodpecker Sno-Balls and treats like coveted Boulettes Larder spices, June TaylorJams and Poco Dolce chocolates, which will be available at San Francisco-based Modern Appealing Clothing's eclectic booth.

Featuring high quality and delicious food products from their Archer Farms collection, Target's "Dish You Were Here!" booth will offer recipe cards for whipping up dishes from around the world, including Mango Curry Shrimp Pizza, Chipotle Gazpacho and Spiced Mexican Brownies, among other globe-trotting treats. Target will also provide unique complimentary snacks inspired by the foods of Korea, India, Spain, France, Mexico and Morocco.

In celebration of The Blue Cash Preferred® Card and Blue Cash Everyday® Card, American Express will host an exclusive TwEAT Dinner in honor of foodies, fans and friends of American Express at the Super(Duper)Market on Friday, August 2. Consumers can follow @AmericanExpress on Twitter for a chance to win a set of two seats at the social supper by submitting a TwEAT for a seat. Twelve seats total will be offered hourly throughout the day on Tuesday, July 30, beginning at 9:00 a.m. and ending at 4:00 p.m. The Blue Cash Preferred® Card and Blue Cash Everyday® Card from American Express allow Cardmembers to earn cash back for qualifying purchases in the form of Reward Dollars which can be redeemed for statement credit.
