PMC's DIGI 120G OTN Processor Receives Excellence in Product Innovation Award
SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- PMC® (NAS: PMCS) , the semiconductor innovator transforming networks that connect, move and store big data, received the Excellence in Product Innovation award for its DIGI 120G multiservice OTN processor from the British Columbia Technology Industry Association (BCTIA). The award recognizes PMC's leadership, technology and product excellence within the technology community.
DIGI 120G is the industry's only single-chip processor supporting 10G, 40G and 100G speeds for OTN transport, aggregation and switching. The device allows carriers to manage optical bandwidth efficiently as they upgrade their networks to 100G capacity in order to handle explosive growth in data traffic.
DIGI 120G is one of PMC's most complex products developed to date, and its success is a testament to PMC's best-in-class engineering capabilities. PMC partnered with equipment manufacturers and service providers globally from the initial design requirements to deployment, ensuring a solution that solves the challenges Big Data creates for optical networking. With a recent Infonetics survey indicating that 86 percent of service providers have or are planning to deploy OTN switching in their Metro and Core transport networks, DIGI 120G will a play critical role in enabling the transition to 100G OTN networking in optical networks worldwide.
