EA Origin exceeds 50 million registered users

More than 50 million people have signed up for Electronic Arts' digital distribution platform, Origin.

That number is up by about 10 million since February of this year, EA reported as part of its Q1 fiscal 2014 financial results released today.

About 22 million of those accounts are associated with mobile platforms. The Simpsons: Tapped Out and Real Racing 3continue to be successful mobile titles for the company, whose digital net revenue for mobile and handheld increased 30 percent year-over-year.

In February, the Origin platform launched on Apple's Mac OSX with 50 games to start.
