Celanese (NYS: CE) reported earnings on July 18. Here are the numbers you need to know.

For the quarter ended June 30 (Q2), Celanese met expectations on revenues and missed estimates on earnings per share.
Compared to the prior-year quarter, revenue contracted slightly. Non-GAAP earnings per share contracted significantly. GAAP earnings per share shrank significantly.

EPS came in at $1.12. The 19 earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ predicted $1.16 per share. Non-GAAP EPS of $1.12 for Q2 were 24% lower than the prior-year quarter's $1.47 per share. GAAP EPS of $0.83 for Q2 were 37% lower than the prior-year quarter's $1.31 per share.

For the quarter, gross margin was 19.3%, 50 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 10.3%, 30 basis points better than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was 8.0%, 450 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. (Margins calculated in GAAP terms.)
Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $1.66 billion. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is $1.19.
Next year's average estimate for revenue is $6.52 billion. The average EPS estimate is $4.53.
