Saybrus Partners Announces New Hires in Key Strategic Positions

HARTFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Saybrus Partners, Inc. today announced that D. Steve Shirley, CLU, CHFC, has joined the company as managing director, National Accounts and Geoffrey F. Ward, CLU, CHFC, CFP® , has joined the company as managing director, Business Development.

Mr. Shirley will be responsible for managing key account relationships and helping drive successful sales execution within those channels. In addition, he will be responsible for identifying and securing new institutional partnership opportunities.

With a career that spans over 30 years, Mr. Shirley was previously national accounts vice president for institutional accounts, John Hancock Life Insurance Company, and held senior sales management positions at Merrill Lynch & Company, Inc. He earned his bachelor's degree in Business from Mississippi State University and holds Chartered Life Underwriter and Chartered Financial Consultant designations from The American College.

Mr. Ward will be responsible for identifying new distribution channel opportunities for middle market product offerings. He brings to this role nearly three decades of experience working with registered representatives, investment advisers, and independent agents, managing the distribution of individual and group annuities, as well as life and protection products. He has a substantial background in estate, business continuation and retirement planning, as well as ERISA plans including defined contribution plans.

Mr. Ward was previously national director for MetLife and held senior sales positions at Travelers Life and Annuity. He earned his bachelor's degree from Viterbo University (LaCrosse, WI) and master's degrees from Trinity University (San Antonio, TX) and Seabury Theological Seminary (Evanston, IL).He also holds Chartered Life Underwriter®, Chartered Financial Consultant® and Certified Financial Planner® industry designations and has been a featured speaker for numerous industry organizations' events.
