Pulse Electronics' New Sidewinder Current Sensor Has Unique Non-Round Shape

Fits the standard buss bar of an ANSI 2S smart meter

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Pulse Electronics Corporation (NYS: PULS) , a leading provider of electronic components, announces a unique new addition to the Sidewinder® AC current sensor line, the PA3207NL. This non-round sensor specifically fits the standard 0.750"x0.093" buss bar of an ANSI 2S smart meter, making the design of the meter base simpler and the assembly easier. The current sensor is linear from 0.1 Amps to 200 Amps. It provides extremely accurate measurement of AC current at 50 or 60 Hz and meets the ANSI C12.20 standard for immunity to external magnetic fields.

The PA3207NL Sidewinder is a core-less, light weight, lower cost, AC current sensor for highly accurate metering applications requiring 0.2% accuracy. Although primarily designed for smart meter applications, the non-round shape can be used in industrial motor controls, power line monitoring, and in commercial and industrial circuit panels.

"Instead of shaping the buss bar to fit the sensor, Pulse has designed the sensor to fit the buss bar," explained Glenn Roemer, field applications engineer, Pulse Electronics. "This simplifies the meter base design and assembly and provides measurement and control engineers with a lower cost current sensing solution."

The sensors are packaged in trays with a price of approximately $2.15 each in quantities of ten thousand. Lead time is 8-10 weeks. The product is available immediately.
