HARMAN Receives Global Industry Leadership Award for In-Vehicle Infotainment

STAMFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Harman International Industries, Incorporated (NYS: HAR) , the leading global audio and infotainment group, today announced that it has been named a Best Practices Honoree by global research and consulting firm Frost & Sullivan, receiving its 2013 Award for Global Industry Leadership for In-Vehicle Infotainment.

Frost & Sullivan selected Harman for its Industry Leadership Award based on the company's demonstrated excellence in capturing the highest market share within the infotainment industry. In a report accompanying the award, Frost & Sullivan analysts point to the loyalty and satisfaction levels reported by Harman's OEM customers, as well as the company's strong commitment to meeting customer demands and strengthening its market position, as evidenced by the numerous product awards it has received from OEMs such as Toyota, Lexus, Subaru and BMW for its audio and infotainment systems.

"We are honored to receive this Industry Leadership Award from Frost & Sullivan, a respected name in industry research and best practices," said Dinesh C. Paliwal, the company's chairman, president and CEO. "Harman has achieved tremendous success in developing Best in Class infotainment systems that go far beyond device connectivity to address driver safety, flexible and open platform designs and a new world of cloud-based architectures that deliver not only services, but firmware updates to future-proof and extend the life of in-car systems. And as we further integrate Apple, Android and other smartphone functionality within our automotive-grade in-car systems, the demand for HARMAN's embedded solutions continues to grow. With new systems coming to market with a number of automakers later this year, HARMAN will further extend our track record as an industry leader and global infotainment innovator."

"Harman is meeting the needs of today's drivers with innovative, connected solutions like its Aha radio and Android Infotainment platforms," said Krishna Jayaraman, Frost & Sullivan industry analyst. "The company also maintains a reputable brand image in the market with its slate of award-winning brands, including AKG, Harman Kardon, JBL, Infinity, Lexicon and Mark Levinson. Additionally, Harman continues to build on its legacy of innovative excellence while successfully expanding into important emerging markets. Harman's expertise and market position made it the clear choice for our Industry Leadership Award."
