More and more, there's a disconnect between the "public message" of politics, and the practice of lobbying, lawmaking, and political wrangling. While alternative energy solutions and more efficient vehicles are the stated want of most, many state legislatures are challenging the right of Tesla Motors to sell its vehicles in various states. Consumers, investors, and voters alike should pay attention to this story, as it will set the tone of how things can change over the longer term.
