Rockstar dropped the first bit of details regarding Grand Theft Auto 5's multiplayer component. In a Q&A on their blog, the studio explained that it's called Grand Theft Auto Online, but refused to go into detail. The only thing we know for certain is that details about the game's multiplayer will be unveiled "sometime this summer."

The fact that it has a separate name entirely leads some to believe that Rockstar could finally be creating a true open-world multiplayer experience as opposed to individual game matches like we saw in Grand Theft Auto 4. Additionally, Rockstar said multiplayer in GTA 5 will be "very different" from what was offered in GTA 4.

Others are under the impression that Rockstar will attempt to merge single player campaign missions, like bank heists, in a multiplayer setting. Or maybe it will take the Watch Dogs approach and allow players to seamlessly enter your game. As you can see, the possibilities are endless, but it seems we'll have to wait just a bit longer for the details.
