Battlefield 4 is taking the Black Ops 2 approach to single-player

Let's be honest, when it comes to Battlefield 4 -- and most first-person shooters for that matter -- players are excited for the multiplayer portion of the game. Sorry, that's just the truth (just look at why Respawn is focusing entirely on multiplayer). But up until E3, everything about Battlefield 4 had been about the game's single-player campaign. Perhaps that's because one of the goals is to have the two overlap in elements.

"There are signature multiplayer elements that we want to bring into single-player," DICE GM Karl-Mangus Troedsson told Official PlayStation Magazine. "We want to give the player a choice. Do they want to go for the sneaky approach with a sniper rifle and a silenced pistol, or do they want to take a jeep and have the entire squad shoot at everything they see?"

Judging by his statement, it appears Battlefield 4 will go the Black Ops 2 route, a branching storyline driven by player choice. Having said that, I never actually played Black Ops 2's single-player, so I can't possibly speculate as to how your decisions actually factored in; I just know you could make similar decisions as Troedsson described. What can I say, I'm one of those multiplayer guys when it comes to CoD and Battlefield. Maybe Respawn has the right approach after all.
