Freeport-McMoRan Keeps Quarterly Dividend Steady

Copper and gold miner Freeport-McMoRanannounced yesterday its third-quarter dividend of $0.3125 per share, the same rate it's paid for the past five quarters.

The board of directors said the quarterly dividend is payable on Aug. 1 to the holders of record at the close of business on July 15. The miner has made quarterly payouts to investors since 1995. It paid a special dividend of $1.00 per share two weeks ago in connection with its acquisition of Plains Exploration.

The regular dividend payment equates to a $1.25-per-share annual dividend, yielding 4.6% based on the closing price of Freeport-McMoRan's stock on June 27.
