Regal Entertainment Group Announces "Much Ado About Nothing" Fan Art Winner

Matt Stevenson, from Washington, D.C., designs winning poster

KNOXVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Regal Entertainment Group (NYS: RGC) , a leading motion picture exhibitor owning and operating the largest theatre circuit in the United States, today announces that Joss Whedon has chosen a winner for the Regal Fan Art Challenge. Matt Stevenson from Washington, D.C. was chosen from more than 400 submissions. Whedon is a widely acclaimed film director known for his recent work on Marvel's "The Avengers." A limited edition print of the winning design will be handed out to guests attending Whedon's new film "Much Ado About Nothing" at participating Regal Cinemas, United Artists and Edwards Theatres.

"Regal Entertainment Group is pleased to announce the winning submission hand-picked by Joss Whedon. And we couldn't be more proud of the design crafted by Matt Stevenson of Washington, D.C.," said Ken Thewes, chief marketing officer for Regal Entertainment Group. "Choosing the winning poster out of hundreds of submissions from dedicated fans, artists and designers was no easy task, but Joss made an excellent choice. We are very excited to hand out a limited supply of Matt's artwork at the 'Much Ado About Nothing' showings at Regal locations this Friday."

The beautiful artwork will also be on display at many Regal Cinema Art theatres showing "Much Ado About Nothing" as a limited release film. The design features two lipstick stains and a smudge in the shape of a mask, similar to those worn by the characters in the film. The mini-posters will be given away for free while supplies last. As a result of his first place finish, Stevenson will receive a framed copy of the artwork signed by Joss Whedon himself and a year of free movies from Regal.

"It's an honor to know that Mr. Whedon appreciated my creativity. I look up to him as a fellow right-brained individual. Joss develops complex dialogue and characters which make him a natural choice to take on Shakespeare," stated Stevenson. "I wanted to match Joss' wit and create something of a visual double entendre. To know Mr. Whedon considered my concept worthy is a huge compliment because it comes from such a creative guy."

In addition to Stevenson's submission, two other poster designs were awarded prizes. During this promotion, Regal's website includes a video with Joss Whedon asking fans for their take on how to market his latest film. To see all submissions, visit the page here: www.REGmovies.com/mymuchadoposter.

About "Much Ado About Nothing:"

Filmed in just 12 days entirely on location in exotic Santa Monica, Calif., the film features a stellar cast of beloved, or soon to be beloved, actors - some of them veterans of Shakespearean theater, some completely new to the form, but all dedicated to the idea that this story bears retelling, that this dialogue is as fresh and intoxicating as any being written, and that the joy of working on a passion project surrounded by dear friends, admired colleagues and an atmosphere of unabashed rapture far outweighs their hilariously miniature paychecks.

Shot in glorious black and white by Jay Hunter ("Paper Heart," "Dollhouse"), the film stars Amy Acker ("Cabin in the Woods," "Alias") and Alexis Denisof ("How I Met Your Mother," "Angel") as Beatrice and Benedick, the world's least likely lovers headed for their inevitable tumble into love. The supporting cast includes Nathan Fillion ("Castle," "Waitress") as Dogberry, Clark Gregg ("Avengers," "Iron Man") as Leonato, Fran Kranz ("Cabin in the Woods," "Dollhouse") as Claudio and Reed Diamond ("Franklin & Bash," "Moneyball") as Don Pedro.
