Motorola Solutions Redefines Business-Critical Device Management

Mobility Lifecycle Management boosts performance and availability of devices for the UK's largest independent mail and parcels company

SCHAUMBURG, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- With the number of mobile devices estimated to now outnumber the world's population, maintaining the levels of performance and availability required of a business-critical mobile device environment can pose a challenge. Mobility Lifecycle Management (MLM) from Motorola Solutions is a service aimed at enterprises that want to use mobile devices to transform their business operations. By leaving the complex task of lifecycle management to a trusted advisor who can deliver a predictable performance and cost, customers can focus their internal resources on core activities.

With more organizations deploying consumer device-based applications in business environments, the number of mobile-device portfolios is expanding along with the complexity of managing them. However, only 18 percent of organizations have an effective mobility strategy in place to address current changes in mobile technology use and adoption. Maintaining the operational readiness of evolving device environments requires ongoing investments in skills, tools and infrastructure. The MLM service builds on Motorola Solutions' global leadership in mission- and business-critical communications by providing agnostic lifecycle management across Windows® Mobile, Apple® iOS and Android®-based operating systems from a wide variety of device manufacturers. It ensures the successful introduction of mobile device technologies across an enterprise by speeding rollout and providing operational support for mobile device and application planning. MLM also supports deployment, management, service desk, repairs and reporting and analysis. Performance is governed by customer-specific service-level agreements and clients will have visibility to all operations and performance measures through the Mobility Lifecycle Management Portal, a customizable browser-based reporting and analysis tool.

The UK Mail Group is an independent parcels, mail and logistics services company based in the United Kingdom, offering innovative delivery solutions both locally and worldwide. With a national network of more than 52 sites and 2,500 vehicles, UK Mail needed a mobile strategy to help monitor employees and their devices. Motorola's MLM service has allowed UK Mail to lower costs by keeping mobile devices up to date and available to its workforce, allowing employees to concentrate on the needs of their customers.
