Darden Restaurants Misses Where it Counts

EPS came in at $1.02. The 14 earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ averaged $1.05 per share. Non-GAAP EPS of $1.02 for Q4 were 11% lower than the prior-year quarter's $1.15 per share. GAAP EPS of $1.01 for Q4 were 12% lower than the prior-year quarter's $1.15 per share.

For the quarter, gross margin was 22.1%, 190 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 8.4%, 270 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was 5.8%, 150 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. (Margins calculated in GAAP terms.)
Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $2.21 billion. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is $0.82.
Next year's average estimate for revenue is $9.11 billion. The average EPS estimate is $3.17.
