Google Fiber Names 9th Kansas City-Area City
Google Fiber continues its expansion across the Kansas City area.
On Thursday, the Lee's Summit (Mo.) City Council voted to allow Google's super-speed Internet service into the city. In total, that's nine Kansas City-area cities that have signed on to bring Fiber to their citizens. When mapping out these cities, Google Fiber seems to have almost completely expanded across the whole Kansas City area.
In past announcements, Google has said Fiber will "need to plan and build" its network before making Fiber available. The service is built by demand, and only "fiberhoods" -- neighborhoods of 250 to 1,500 households -- that meet a pre-registration goal get Fiber service.
