Department of Defense Awards $242 Million in Contracts Friday

The Department of Defense wrapped up the week Friday with contract awards totaling $242.2 million in value, spread out among nine separate contractors. Notable winners included:

  • Boeing , which won a $15.9 million modification for its contract to perform "sustainment and tech refresh" work on the Combat Track II (CTII) system for the Air Force. CTII is described as being "a secure, beyond-line-of-sight (BLOS) tactical data network ... consisting of a small, quick-to-install airborne transceiver and one or more rugged laptops, tablet computers, and/or integrated mission displays." Boeing will perform this work by June 25, 2016.

  • Britain's BAE Systems and, in particular, its San Diego Ship Repair unit, won $15.4 million as part of an option exercise to perform repairs and alterations, through June 2014, aboard the landing platform dock USS Green Bay (LPD 20) while it is in drydock.

  • And General Dynamics' Electric Boat subsidiary was awarded $7.6 million to modify a previously awarded Navy contract. This money will fund continued development of a mast and sensor for the Sea Sentry radar system through August 2017.
