Chevron Issues Case Study Highlighting Increased Performance of Delo® for Tahoe Truckee Sierra Disposal

Delo 400 LE SAE 15W-40 engine oil and Delo Extended Life Coolant deliver 16,000 hours of life in Cummins M11 Engine

SAN RAMON, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Chevron Products Company, a Chevron U.S.A. Inc. division, maker of the Delo® brand of technologically advanced engine oils, lubricants and coolants, released a case study demonstrating that use of Delo 400 LE SAE 15W-40 decreased mechanical wear for the Tahoe Truckee Sierra Disposal fleet in California's Sierra Nevada Mountains.

"I'm looking at the bottom line—I don't want to be buying a new truck every year," said David Achiro, owner, Tahoe Truckee Sierra Disposal. "I feel that the Delo 400 products are keeping our trucks on the road a lot longer."

Tahoe Truckee Sierra Disposal operates a fleet of waste collection vehicles in extreme conditions including high altitude and temperatures ranging from 30 degrees below zero to over 100 degrees farenheit. The fleet includes a garbage disposal truck with a Cummins M11 engine, which the company recently took apart and studied after 16,000 hours of service using Delo 400 LE SAE 15W-40 and Delo Extended Life Coolant.

"While the exterior of the truck looked like it had travelled 'to the moon and back,' the engine remained in top condition. The truck's camshaft was in excellent condition with no abrasive wear pattern," said Jim McGeehan, senior scientist at Chevron. "The combination of the use of Delo 400 LE oil and Delo Extended Life Coolant allowed Tahoe Truckee Sierra Disposal to extend the life of critical engine parts and achieve significant cost savings."
