Heartland Financial Names Interim CFO

Updated

Dubuque, Iowa-based Heartland Financial reshuffled its accountants this week.

On Monday, Midwest banker announced that current Chief Financial Officer John K. Schmidt will be leaving the company sometime in mid-July, to be immediately -- if temporarily -- replaced by new interim CFO David L. Horstmann.

Horstmann, currently the senior VP for finance at Heartland, has been with the company for nine years. He will be backed up in his new, temporary position by newly promoted (and permanent) Deputy CFO Janet M. Quick, a 19-year veteran of the firm. Quick also retains her current role as the company's chief accounting officer.

Heartland did not specifically say in its press release that it is seeking a permanent replacement for the outgoing Schmidt, but the appellation of "interim" to Horstmann's title suggests that a search for a permanent CFO is under way.
