Unison's New Surface Cooler for Helicopter Applications
LE BOURGET, France--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Unison Industries announced development of a unique new air cooled oil cooler (ACOC) application for helicopters that can eliminate fans and "brick" style engine and gearbox oil coolers. The ACOC technology is in use on the GEnx-1B and was selected for the new Leap-1B and Passport engines. Unison's advanced heat exchanger technology is patented and patent pending.
Unison will apply the ACOC to the aircraft fuselage using main or tail rotor air flow to cool the oil. Unison's ACOC uses its Integrated Fin Technology™ to reduce weight and minimize airflow disruption, and it can be formed to the shape of the contour on which it is applied. The ACOC has only two weld joints, one at the valve and the other at the manifold. This greatly enhances reliability of the product and improves operator life cycle cost.
