PPG Named by IDG's Computerworld Among 100 'Best Places to Work in IT'

PITTSBURGH--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- PPG Industries (NYS: PPG) announced today that IDG's Computerworld has named the company among the 100 "Best Places to Work in IT" for 2013. PPG is included in the June 17 issue of Computerworld along with other organizations that rated well in the magazine's 20th annual "Best Places to Work in IT" survey for challenging information technology workers while providing them with good benefits and compensation.

"PPG is honored to be named among many world-class, innovative companies in this list," said Werner Baer, PPG vice president, information technology. "Our focus on employee development, innovation and global growth has helped us create an environment offering opportunities for IT professionals at all levels. From paid internships to successful onboarding and development programs for both entry-level and experienced employees, the aptitude and culture of PPG's IT function rival those of many top employers worldwide."

Scot Finnie, editor in chief of Computerworld, said, "We applaud the organizations on the Best Places to Work in IT list for creating and sustaining dynamic IT work environments. This year, several new names have joined the stalwarts that make the list year after year. It's clear that the best IT workplaces are constantly raising the bar with great benefits, new learning opportunities, access to cutting-edge technologies and challenging business-critical projects."

The Computerworld award is the latest received by PPG's IT organization and the first honoring its workplace environment. Other recent recognition includes a 2011 CIO Award, a 2012 Pittsburgh Technology Council DATA award and a 2013 Webby nomination.

The Best Places to Work in IT list is an annual ranking of the top 100 work environments for technology professionals by IDG's Computerworld. The list is compiled based on a comprehensive questionnaire regarding company offerings in categories such as benefits, diversity, career development, training and retention. In addition, Computerworld conducts extensive surveys of IT workers, and their responses factor heavily in determining the rankings.
