Researchers have found a possible early detection method for dementia in individuals with type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. That is great news for patients, but it could work out in more ways than one. A handful of companies have tried to develop Alzheimer's disease drugs, but none have been successful. The study results could provide pharmaceutical companies with a new patient population for mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease therapies. Additionally, perhaps studying the disease before it is clinically diagnosed will lead to powerful insights for its progression.
