Five full-tuition scholarships will be offered to Information Security and Technology students
CLEARWATER, Fla. & PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- University of Phoenix, a subsidiary of Apollo Group, Inc. (NAS: APOL) , in conjunction with the (ISC)2 Foundation®, a non-profit charitable trust that aims to make the cyber world safer by supporting cyber security education and awareness, is proud to announce the establishment of five full-tuition scholarships.
(ISC)2's sixth annual Global Information Security Workforce Study (GISWS) revealed that the lack of skilled and qualified information technology professionals across the nation is having a negative impact on both companies and consumers and causing a global economic ripple effect. In fact, 56 percent of survey respondents indicated that the staffing shortage is having a significant impact on their organization. Security concerns indicated by respondents included brand damage, breaches of laws and regulations, service downtime, customer privacy violations, and customer identity and corporate intellectual property theft.
Cyber security and information assurance comprehension are must-have skills in today's workplace. Rapidly changing technology and workforce demands have broadened the nationwide skills gap - the disparity between the skills that employers require and those that employees possess. Today, there are simply not enough skilled IT security professionals available to fill positions in education, healthcare, manufacturing, retail, and many other industries.

Each full-tuition scholarship will be awarded to an undergraduate or master's student seeking a degree within the College of Information Systems and Technology at University of Phoenix.
