TUCSON, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- STRONGWATCH, developer of advanced fixed and mobile surveillance technology for military, government and commercial clients, is a winner of the spring 2013 Arizona Innovation Challenge. As a Top 10 Finalist narrowed from 180 companies that applied, STRONGWATCH was invited by the Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA) to present to a panel of judges, a process that culminated in the announcement of the winners at the Innovation Arizona Summit held earlier this week at Tempe Center for the Arts. Highlighted for the ACA throughout the application process was STRONGWATCH's family of security solutions including FREEDOM 360, a continuous 360-degree wide area surveillance system that provides critical infrastructure protection for commercial clients; and its FREEDOM On-The-Move mobile surveillance solutions deployed for Border Security and Law Enforcement. STRONGWATCH will apply the award money toward continued market expansion of the FREEDOM 360 solution as well as advancing STRONGWATCH's other unique surveillance innovations.

"We're thrilled to have won Arizona Commerce Authority's Innovation Challenge. This is a strong validation of our technology and the funding will help us to accelerate the company's global distribution initiatives. We're also proud to have been recognized by the ACA as a rising early stage company here in Arizona where border and infrastructure security are key to healthy commerce," said STRONGWATCH Chairman & CEO, Mike Powell.

The Arizona Innovation Challenge (AIC), powered by the Arizona Commerce Authority, awards the most money in the country for a business plan competition - $3 million ($1.5 million twice per year) to the world's most promising technology ventures. Awards range from $100K to $250K per company. The business-plan competition awards capital for qualified, innovative start-ups/early stage companies to grow their businesses in Arizona. Grants are dispersed as milestones are reached over one year.
