New Medical Study Shows Proper Sun Protection Helps Skin Stay Healthy & Look Years Younger

Rite Aid Resources Include Free "Skin Care" Tip Books, Pharmacists' Expert Advice & Free Skin Cancer Screenings

CAMP HILL, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- In June, a study in the Annals of Internal Medicine¹ was published indicating proper sun protection not only helps skin stay healthy, but also look years younger. Now, Rite Aid (NYS: RAD) is teaming up with The Skin Cancer Foundation to spread the word on how good skincare is essential for long-lasting health and natural beauty.

Through July, Rite Aid is joining The Skin Cancer Foundation and offering customers access to free in-store and online resources including full-color "Skin Care" tip books, a cross-country tour offering free full-body skin cancer screenings, and, of course, Rite Aid pharmacists, who are increasingly being called upon to provide preventative care on a range of health conditions.

Free "Skin Care" Tip Books Available at All Rite Aid Locations Nationwide

Working closely with The Skin Cancer Foundation, Rite Aid has created a take-home "Skin Care" tip book that is available at any Rite Aid pharmacy counter through July. The tip book covers skin care basics such as how often and how much sunscreen to use, specific regimens for morning and night, and how to get enough vitamin D without sun exposure. Tip books also help customers identify sun-protective products with The Foundation's Seal of Recommendation.

Dermatologists Performing Free Full-Body Skin Cancer Screenings in Traveling RV

Through August, Rite Aid is making free full-body skin cancer screenings accessible to thousands across the country as the presenting sponsor of The Skin Cancer Foundation's annual Road to Healthy Skin Tour. Now in its sixth year, the Tour enlists local dermatologists to provide potentially life-saving skin cancer screenings in the privacy of a 38-foot customized recreational vehicle. Stops include Rite Aid locations in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Colorado and California.

Rite Aid posts year-round health information on its newly redesigned website including a dedicated "Skin Care" section at www.riteaid.com/skincare. Site visitors can learn more about the Road to Healthy Skin Tour and access additional resources such as instructions and a body mapping chart for performing skin self-exams in between annual dermatologist visits and a link to Rite Aid's online Drug Information Database to search for side effects including sun sensitivity.
