Updated

Video game publisher Electronic Arts is bringing its newest entry to its long-standing Madden NFL football video game to the next generation of game consoles.

Madden NFL 25 will arrive for Sony's PlayStation 4 and Microsoft's Xbox One consoles as a launch title this holiday season, according to an EA press statement Monday. Madden has traditionally sold well for EA, and the company's looking to grow on the success of the last edition in the franchise. Madden NFL 13 set a company record last year by selling 900,000 copies in its first 24 hours after launch, with sales across HD platforms up 7% year-over-year. The game went on to post the franchise's best first week after launch in the current console generation, selling more than 1.6 million copies in that time.

Cam Weber, EA Sports' general manager of American football, was quoted as saying, "The development team is crafting the most impressive Madden NFL game we've ever made, and I'm extremely excited for fans to get their hands on it for themselves when the Xbox One and PS4 launch." Among new developments for this edition of Madden, EA boasts of new texture resolution and enhanced graphics, smarter game intelligence, and a more realistic in-game experience.
