Bay Area Tech Company Volunteers to Build Homes in Walnut Creek with Habitat for Humanity

PLEASANTON, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Employee volunteers from Ellie Mae® (NYS: ELLI) will help Habitat for Humanity build homes in Walnut Creek this Friday, June 7th. The 'build' with Habitat for Humanity is part of an employee-led program called EllieCares, which encourages employees to support local charities with their time and effort. Over the past four years more than 70 percent of Ellie Mae's Bay Area staff has participated in company-affiliated volunteer efforts.

What:

More than 35 Ellie Mae employees will help build homes for multiple families. This is an opportunity to cover a "good news" story and to interview participants about why they are giving their time and effort to make a difference for their community.

Where:

Barkley Avenue, Walnut Creek, Calif.

When:

Friday, June 7th, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Why:

Sig Anderman, chief executive officer of Ellie Mae, said, "Giving back to the community and sharing our success is a core part of Ellie Mae's culture. The decision to come out in force to help Habitat for Humanity build these homes for deserving families was made by our employees, not the company. But it seems like a natural fit, given that our technology is used to originate 20% of all mortgages in the U.S. each year."

He added, "Because the work is hands-on and Habitat for Humanity provides information on the families whose houses we're helping to build, the experience becomes more tangible for everyone involved. As part of our broader volunteer efforts, this project illustrates how time and a bit of elbow grease can make a significant difference in the life of a family and the broader community."
