AU Optronics Reports 22% Increase in May Revenues

Computer and TV screen maker AU Optronicsreported this morning that May revenues blossomed, rising 3.5% sequentially to 38,300 new Taiwan dollars, and surging 22% year over year.

The monitor maker said large-screen panel shipments exceeded 10.51 million units in May, an 11% jump from April. Small and medium-sized panels declined, however, falling 2.5% to 11.78 million units. The larger sizes, which measure 10 inches or more diagonally, are used in desktop monitors, notebook computers, and LCD TVs.

Year to date, revenues are NT$169,548, up 18.7% from the year-ago period.


Headquartered in Taiwan, AU Optronics is a leading provider of optoelectronic solutions with panels ranging in size from 1.5 inches to 65 inches. It recorded revenues of more than $13 billion in 2012.
