Limited Brands May Comps Rise 3%

Leading fashion retailer Limited Brands reported this morning that May sales sprouted for the month.

For the four weeks ending June 1, total sales were $737 million, a 9.7% increase from the $671.9 million it recorded in the year-ago period. That translated into a same-store sales rise of 3% for May.

For the 17-week period ending June 1, sales rose 6.3% to $3.005 billion, compared to $2.826 billion last year, while the retailer's year-to-date comps were up 3%.


Headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, Limited -- which now goes by the name L Brands -- operates 2,616 specialty stores in the United States and its brands are sold in more than 700 company-operated and franchised locations worldwide. It owns several chains including Victoria's Secret, Pink, Bath & Body Works, La Senza, and Henri Bendel. L Brands recorded sales of $10.57 billion in the trailing 12-month period ending May 4.
