NextGen Healthcare Electronic Dental Record (EDR) Receives 2014 ONC HIT Certification
Solution compliant with the ONC 2014 Edition criteria and certified as a Complete EHR
HORSHAM, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- NextGen Healthcare Information Systems, LLC., a wholly owned subsidiary of Quality Systems, Inc. (NAS: QSII) and a leading provider of healthcare information systems and connectivity solutions, announced today that its NextGen® Electronic Dental Record (EDR) version 4.3 is compliant with the ONC 2014 Edition criteria and was certified as a Complete EHR by the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT®), an ONC-ACB, in accordance with the applicable Eligible certification criteria adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS). The ONC 2014 Edition criteria support both Stage 1 and 2 meaningful use measures required to qualify eligible providers and hospitals for funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).
NextGen EDR version 4.3 was certified as an ONC HIT Complete EHR on May 3, 2013 and complies with all 2014 edition certification criteria for Eligible Providers. The additional software NextGen EDR version 4.3 relied upon to demonstrate compliance includes NextGen® Ambulatory EHR, v5.8.
The NextGen EDR version 4.3 certification number is CC-2014-345777-4. The clinical quality measures to which NextGenEDR version 4.3 has been certified include: CMS117v1, CMS136v2, CMS138v1, CMS146v1, CMS153v1, CMS154v1, CMS155v1, CMS156v1, CMS165v1, CMS2v2, CMS50v1, CMS69v1, CMS75v1 and CMS90v2. ONC HIT certification conferred by CCHIT does not represent an endorsement of the certified EHR technology by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
"We view this ONC HIT certification of NextGen EDR an essential benchmark for performance that should be used by clinical professionals to evaluate the quality of the software they use. As constraints on dentists' time become more prevalent, our dental clients are turning to technology-driven solutions that can increase practice efficiencies and allow them to focus on delivering quality care to their patients," said Donn Neufeld executive vice president and general manager of the QSI Dental Division. "To help address this need, we are committed to providing our clients with the best possible solutions for their practices."
NextGen Ambulatory EHR version 126.96.36.199 (Certification ID: CC-2014-345777-3) was also certified as an ONC HIT Complete EHR on March 1, 2013 and complies with all 2014 edition certification criteria for Eligible Providers. The additional software that the NextGen Ambulatory EHR version 184.108.40.206 relied upon to demonstrate compliance includes: NextGen® Health Quality Measures (HQM) version 3.40, NextGen Healthcare Rosetta version 5.8 and First Data Bank.
Other costs that an eligible provider would pay to attempt to meet meaningful use objectives and measures include: additional license and monthly subscription fees for NextGen® Patient Portal, charges for interface development to all external sources and additional charges per provider per year for Healthwise.
"CCHIT congratulates companies successfully achieving EHR technology certification," said Alisa Ray, executive director, CCHIT. "These companies are now able to make their products available to providers wishing to adopt health IT to demonstrate meaningful use and earn Stage 1 or Stage 2 incentives."
The ONC HIT Certification Program certifies that Complete EHRs meet all of the 2014 Edition criteria and EHR Modules meet one or more — but not all — of the criteria approved by the Secretary of HHS for either eligible provider or hospital technology. Companies offering ONC HIT certified EHR modules may return to test additional ONC 2014 Edition criteria and certify their products as Complete EHRs later. ONC HIT certification updates will be available at http://www.cchit.org as they occur.

This news release may contain forward-looking statements within the meaning of the federal securities laws. Statements regarding future events, developments, the Company's future performance, as well as management's expectations, beliefs, intentions, plans, estimates or projections relating to the future (including, without limitation, statements concerning revenue and net income), are forward-looking statements within the meaning of these laws and involve a number of risks and uncertainties. Management believes that these forward-looking statements are reasonable and are based on reasonable assumptions and forecasts, however, undue reliance should not be placed on such statements that speak only as of the date hereof. Moreover, these forward-looking statements are subject to a number of risks and uncertainties, some of which are outlined below. As a result, actual results may vary materially from those anticipated by the forward-looking statements. Among the important factors that could cause actual results to differ materially from those indicated by such forward-looking statements are: volume and timing of systems sales and installations; length of sales cycles and installation process; the possibility that the products will not achieve market acceptance; seasonal patterns of sales and customer buying behavior; the development by competitors of new or superior technologies; the timing, cost and success or failure of new product and service introductions, development and product upgrade releases; undetected errors or bugs in software; product liability; changing economic, political or regulatory influences in the health-care industry; changes in product-pricing policies; availability of third-party products and components; competitive pressures including product offerings, pricing and promotional activities; the Company's ability or inability to attract and retain qualified personnel; possible regulation of the Company's software by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration; uncertainties concerning threatened, pending and new litigation against the Company including related professional services fees; uncertainties concerning the amount and timing of professional fees incurred by the Company generally; changes of accounting estimates and assumptions used to prepare the prior periods' financial statements; general economic conditions; and the risk factors detailed from time to time in Quality Systems' periodic reports and registration statements filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission. A significant portion of the Company's quarterly sales of software product licenses and computer hardware is concluded in the last month of the fiscal quarter, generally with a concentration of such revenues earned in the final ten business days of that month. Due to these and other factors, the Company's revenues and operating results are very difficult to forecast. A major portion of the Company's costs and expenses, such as personnel and facilities, are of a fixed nature and, accordingly, a shortfall or decline in quarterly and/or annual revenues typically results in lower profitability or losses. As a result, comparison of the Company's period-to-period financial performance is not necessarily meaningful and should not be relied upon as an indicator of future performance. The Company undertakes no obligation to publicly update any forward-looking statements, whether as a result of new information, future events or otherwise.
