David E. Hunger, Former Senior Economist at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Joins Charles River Associates (CRA)
BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Charles River Associates (NAS: CRAI) , a worldwide leader in providing economic, financial, and management consulting services, today announced that David E. Hunger, Affiliated Professor at the Georgetown Public Policy Institute (GPPI), has joined the firm as a vice president in the Energy Practice based in Washington, DC. Mr. Hunger joins CRA from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) where he was Senior Economist, Office of Energy Policy and Innovation (OEPI), and focused on market power analysis, energy market merger analysis and policy, demand response compensation, and investigations of domestic energy crises, among other areas.

"His government experience and academic research provide deep insight into the multi-faceted and complex regulatory matters as well as strategic issues that energy market participants often face. During his time at FERC, Mr. Hunger led analyses involving: the effect on competition in mergers and other corporate transactions; market power in market-based rates cases; compliance cases for Regional Transmission Organizations; and competition issues in electricity markets. At GPPI, Mr. Hunger teaches various economics and energy policy courses. His research interests include the effect of environmental regulations on international trade, market power in energy markets, and energy policy. He frequently speaks on energy market issues and publishes articles on energy economics and policy. His work has appeared in the Journal of Regulatory Economics and in Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Staff Reports to the U.S. Congress. He earned his PhD and MS degrees in Economics from the University of Oregon and his BA degree in Mathematics from the University of Massachusetts at Boston.
