SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Splunk Inc. (NAS: SPLK) , the leading software platform for real-time operational intelligence, today announced that Erik Swan, co-founder and chief technology officer, Splunk, will discuss how the Internet of Things and industrial data are moving the big data universe in new directions during a panel session at The Economist's Ideas Economy: Information Forum 2013. The event is being held today at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco. The panel, "Beyond big data, the next frontiers of business and technology" is scheduled to begin at 5:40 p.m. PT.
"Splunk's mission is to make machine data accessible, usable and valuable to everyone. The beauty of Splunk software is that it does not care what kind of machine generated the data, whether it is a server, a sensor, a PC or a plane," said Swan. "Until now, big data has been mostly driven by web and social data. The next phase based on the Internet of Things and industrial data will enable broader and far more compelling and valuable solutions."
