Updated

Following on Boeing's contract win six months ago, in which it was awarded $895 million to begin upgrading the U.S. Air Force's fleet of C-17 Globemaster III transport aircraft, we learned of a second beneficiary of the contract today: United Technologies .

UTC announced Tuesday that Boeing has picked it to assist the staff at Hill Air Force Base in Ogden, Utah, in performing landing gear system maintenance upon the C-17. UTC has performed these services for Boeing since 2006, and the company's Landing Gear business site director, Greg Watson, says UTC is "pleased to have been selected by Boeing to continue to support the U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III. "

UTC Aerospace Systems not only is the original equipment manufacturer of the landing gear system on the Globemaster III. It is also one of the largest landing gear overhaul maintenance suppliers in the industry.
