CA Technologies Releases "Future Ready" Annual Sustainability Report

Company optimizes resources to benefit people, planet and its business while minimizing negative environmental impact

ISLANDIA, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- CA Technologies (NAS: CA) today released its annual Sustainability Report titled "Future Ready." The report highlights the company's advances in sustainability over the past year and profiles its commitment to people (employees and community), the planet and business goals.

"Innovation in sustainability means doing things better and smarter," said Cynthia Curtis, chief sustainability officer, CA Technologies. "The company is combining innovation and execution in its sustainability efforts by pursuing strategies that decouple environmental impact with business growth. As we continue to drive efficiency gains at offices around the world, we advance toward meeting our commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 35 percent by 2020."

The CA Technologies Sustainability Report is measured against the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) indicators and United Nations Global Compact principals, which received an A+ rating.

Corporate Sustainability Highlights From 2012:

Renewable Energy - 17 percent of CA Technologieselectricity purchased globally is from renewable sources. The company established a goal of increasing its use of renewable electricity to 25 percent by 2015. Renewable electricity is consumed at company sites in Darmstadt, Germany; Sydney and Melbourne, Australia; Hyderabad, India and Framingham, Massachusetts.

Information Technology - The company consolidated servers in its data centers, which allows it to combine several underutilized physical servers into one - to reduce energy consumption and associated expense, as well as software and hardware maintenance costs.

Cross-industry Collaboration - CA Technologies joined Business for Innovative Climate & Energy Policy (BICEP), the policy arm of Ceres, to increase cross-industry collaboration in the area of energy management, and became a signatory of the Climate Declaration.

Green Building/Leases - Approximately 330,000 square feet of the company's office space — about 10 percent of the company's total office space — is LEED-registered or under a green lease.

Energy Usage - CA Technologies has reduced its carbon footprint by acting on opportunities for lighting reduction, smart-spacing facilities, and continued efficiencies in its data centers and labs.

Waste /Water/Paper Management - Minimized landfill waste through composting is underway at three of the company's major facilities.

CA World 2013 - The largest global gathering of CA Technologies customers and partners was a 100 percent carbon-neutral event.

Software Solutions- "In tandem with our corporate sustainability strategy, we help make sure our customers are better equipped for the future by developing energy and sustainability solutions," continued Curtis. "CA Technologies has become a leader in environmental sustainability management. Our CA Energy and Sustainability Management solutions use leading-edge technology to help customers measure and report on energy, water, waste and carbon."

CA Energy and Sustainability Management solutions—which include CA Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) and CA ecoSoftware—leverage capabilities in its systems management and project and portfolio management solutions to help customers improve sustainability performance. CA ecoSoftware meets the company's own need to track, monitor and report on GHG emissions and to facilitate reporting processes. The company also leverages CA DCIM to measure and manage — in real time — power and cooling and overall physical capacity in its data centers and facilities around the globe.

Philanthropy - CA Technologies global community affairs program is driven by a core philanthropic focus of improving the lives of underserved children and communities around the world. Last year marked the seventh anniversary of the CA Together in Action program, the company's worldwide volunteer month. The effort has brought employee volunteers together from across the globe to participate in more than 110 activities and contribute more than 11,000 hours of community service since the program was established. CA Technologies supports programs in the areas of education and technology, health and community, diversity and the environment.
