Aetna Shared Solutions Simplify Administration for Public Sector and Taft-Hartley Labor Customers and TPAs

-- Aetna AdminLink® is the latest addition to suite of solutions --

HARTFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Aetna (NYSE: AET) is expanding its suite of shared administration solutions for public and labor organizations, making it easier for these self-funded customers or their Third Party Administrators (TPAs) to access the information they need to effectively administer claims payment, medical management and other administrative functions for their members. These innovative and flexible arrangements allow public and labor customers to choose the level of administration that's right for them.

Aetna Shared Administration solutions are powered by the Aetna Strategic Desktop Customer Service Portal. This web-based tool provides a 360-degree view of member data. A single screen highlights the most important plan, eligibility and coverage information, giving customers easy access to clear, organized information on:

  • Claims

  • Benefits

  • Referrals

  • Precertification

"We understand how public sector and labor organizations operate. Our shared administration solutions are tailored to simplify administration and deliver a more efficient and personalized service experience for our customers and their members," said Cain Hayes, president of Aetna's Public-Sector and Taft-Hartley Labor business.

Introducing Aetna AdminLink

Aetna AdminLink gives self-funded public and labor customers with preferred provider organization (PPO) plans the ability to perform claim and member service functions. These customers can choose their level of involvement.

  • Call center only - The customer's staff answers members' calls regarding their benefits. The team has access to all the information they need online - from eligibility data to policy details to paid claims information.

  • Claim operations only - The customer's staff processes all member claims using Aetna's proprietary systems. Aetna provides access to its claims-processing engine so the customer can process claims quickly and efficiently.

  • Full call and claim operations - The customer's staff answers all member calls and processes claims, with access to Aetna call and claims systems.

"Aetna AdminLink provides public and labor customers with a secure gateway to Aetna's state-of-the-art call and claims systems, giving them full access to their members' information. This level of transparency is rare in the marketplace," said Hayes.

Aetna AdminLink is the latest addition to Aetna's suite of shared administration solutions. In 2005, the health benefits company introduced Aetna Joint Claim Administration, which combines benefits administration with Aetna's care management expertise and national networks.
