Visit of the President of the Republic of Ghana to France: Technip Reiterates Its Commitment to the Ghanaian Market

PARIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Regulatory News :

While on official visit to France, His Excellency John Dramane Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, was welcomed earlier today by Thierry Pilenko, Chairman and Chief Executive of Technip (Paris:TEC) (ISIN:FR0000131708) (ADR:TKPPY), at the Group's Headquarters in Paris. During this meeting, the Ghanaian delegation and Technip's management discussed the booming development of the oil and gas market in Ghana, as well as Technip's activities and projects.

Technip has been operating in Ghana since 2009, when the Group was awarded the Jubilee project, the first deepwater field developed in the country. Since then, Technip has been considerably investing to support Ghana's industrial development, while also pioneering the oil and gas industry in the country. Capitalizing on the success of the Jubilee project, Technip established its first representative office in Accra in 2010, and inaugurated GNPC-Technip Engineering Services Ltd, a joint venture with GNPC (Ghana National Petroleum Corporation), in November 2012. This engineering company now employs around 30 people, of which 86% are Ghanaian. Technip has also created a 15,000 m² fabrication yard in Sekondi in order to locally manage fabrication and logistic support to vessels.

Strongly committed to national content and long-term relationships with communities, Technip implemented an extensive training program of Ghanaian nationals, partnered with the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and launched various corporate social responsibility projects.

Thierry Pilenko declared: "It has been an honor to receive His Excellency John Dramane Mahama and his delegation. The Republic of Ghana offers very promising opportunities for us and we hope we will continue to develop our presence in the country over the long term, in line with our strategy, and work with the Ghanaian people to contribute to build the future of their oil and gas industry together."
