Humana Foundation Pledges Up to $250,000 Toward Oklahoma Tornado Relief

Foundation will match Humana associate contributions to the American Red Cross

LOUISVILLE, Ky.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The Humana Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Humana Inc. (NYS: HUM) , today announced that it will make a combined contribution of up to $250,000 to the American Red Cross and the Oklahoma City Community Foundation in the wake of last week's devastating tornado in Moore, Okla.


The American Red Cross of Central Oklahoma will receive $100,000 to address immediate and ongoing needs related to the disaster. The Foundation also will match up to $50,000 in gifts from Humana associates to the American Red Cross of Central Oklahoma. The Oklahoma City Community Foundation will receive $100,000 to support nonprofits that focus on the longer-term rebuilding efforts.

"Humana stands with the people of Oklahoma as they take on the emotionally wrenching job of recovering after this terrible storm," said Bruce Broussard, Humana's President and CEO. "We hope this gift will ease the suffering of the affected families and help them meet their needs for shelter, food and medical supplies."

Humana's Chairman, Mike McCallister, who also serves as chair of the Humana Foundation, also expressed his commitment to recovery efforts.
