France Telecom to Change Name

France Telecom will soon be no more, at least as far as its appellation is concerned. This summer, the company will change its moniker. Effective July 1, it will be known instead as Orange. Additionally, the firm will have a new ticker symbol -- ORA -- to accompany this modification.

This is quite a shift for the storied company, which remains more than one-quarter owned by the government of its namesake country and was once the nation's monopoly telecom provider. The name "Orange" aligns the firm with the brand appellation it uses for a range of services, including mobile telephony and Internet.
