FAIRFIELD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- In response to the severe tornado that struck the suburbs of Oklahoma City, GE and the GE Foundation have committed equipment and funding to support relief and recovery efforts. This includes donating GE Healthcare medical equipment and accessories to Norman Regional Hospital, which is seeing an influx of patients due to the complete devastation of Moore Medical Center by the storm.

Norman Regional Health Foundation Executive Director Anne Clouse said, "When a community is literally torn apart by a disaster like this, it takes a whole other community of support to help us through this crisis. GE's gift of this equipment is both timely and very much appreciated."

The GE Foundation also announced a $250,000 donation to the American Red Cross Disaster GivingProgram. This program ensures an immediate response to meet the needs of people who are affected by all disasters. This adds to the GE Foundation's previous $1 million grant to the American Red Cross, which is providing much-needed support to the thousands of people affected by recent events.

GE Foundation Chairman and President Bob Corcoran said, "While local agencies and relief organizations are still determining the full scope of destruction from this tornado, we have employees, customers and neighbors who have experienced loss. We hope that the donation of both equipment and disaster relief funds can help this community as they begin to recover from this devastating event."

The GE Foundation is also supporting the charitable efforts of its employees and retirees with a 100% match of funds to qualified relief organizations. The GE Foundation created its matching gift program in 1954 to support employees in their personal philanthropy by providing a dollar-for-dollar match.
