Aqua Pennsylvania's Reservoirs Are Full for Memorial Day Weekend
Capacity indicates benefits of reservoirs overall
BRYN MAWR, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Aqua Pennsylvania, Inc. (Aqua) reported today that its 10-billion-gallon reservoir storage in southeastern Pennsylvania is full and ready to support the increased usage period that traditionally begins around the Memorial Day weekend—the unofficial start of the summer season.
"Aqua's reservoirs in southeastern Pennsylvania are full right now. Although rainfall is below normal for the year this spring, Aqua did not see an increase in usage. Temperatures remained close to normal but intermittent periods of rain and multiple overcast days resulted in many non-spring-like days in the southeastern Pennsylvania service area," said Aqua Pennsylvania President Steve Tagert. "As we enter the holiday weekend with our reservoirs full, we are reminded of the benefits they provide, which is to collect water during times when rain is more plentiful to have on hand for use during dryer periods."
Tagert said although summer is officially still a month away, the Memorial Day Weekend marks the unofficial start of the summer season when customers begin using more water to fill swimming pools, water lawns, wash cars and other recreational activities. "It's natural that as the weather gets warmer, people use more water. However, even though our water storage is at 100 percent capacity now, people should always use water responsibly and remember that it is a limited resource."
Aqua operates five reservoirs in southeastern Pennsylvania, which collectively hold approximately 10 billion gallons of water.
Aqua provides water and wastewater services to approximately 1.4 million people throughout Pennsylvania, including 1.3 million people in Delaware, Montgomery, Chester, Bucks and Berks counties.
