Timothy Moen to Retire from Northern Trust

CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Northern Trust announced today that Chief Administrative Officer, Executive Vice President and Management Group member Timothy Moen plans to retire later this year, after more than 30 years in the Chicago financial services industry.

Most of Moen's career has been as a Human Resources leader. He joined the company as Executive Vice President of Human Resources in 2001 and shortly thereafter took on additional responsibilities as head of Corporate Services, overseeing Northern Trust's physical footprint at a time of rapid growth. As Northern Trust's Human Resources head for more than a decade, Moen is credited with leading the modernization and globalization of the function and formalizing the company's approach to key areas such as talent acquisition, career development and performance management.

Moen was the first Human Resources leader to belong to the Northern Trust's Management Group, its senior-most executive council. During his tenure, he unified several groups of Human Resources professionals across different businesses into one unified, worldwide structure and introduced best practices to the areas of change management, enterprise talent management, succession planning and compensation.

"Over the years, Tim has served as a trusted advisor to me and to other members of the Management Group with his vision and leadership," Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Frederick H. Waddell said. "His passion for recognizing and addressing the needs of our employees has brought global recognition to the Northern Trust brand. Tim has made a lasting impact on Northern Trust and we will miss his wise counsel."

Prior to joining Northern Trust, Moen was executive vice president and head of Human Resources for Bank One Corporation. He also served as executive vice president and led Human Resources for First Chicago NBD Corporation. Before that, he was an executive vice president of Human Resources and Administration at American National in 1992.

Moen is Past Chairman and Director of the Bank Administration Institute, Board member of Cadence Health and a Trustee of the Chicago History Museum.
