NetApp Increases Sales but Misses Revenue Estimate

NetApp (NAS: NTAP) reported earnings on May 21. Here are the numbers you need to know.

EPS came in at $0.69. The 35 earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ anticipated $0.68 per share. Non-GAAP EPS of $0.69 for Q4 were 4.5% higher than the prior-year quarter's $0.66 per share. GAAP EPS of $0.47 for Q4 were 2.1% lower than the prior-year quarter's $0.48 per share.

Margin details
For the quarter, gross margin was 60.1%, 170 basis points better than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 11.9%, 120 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was 10.1%, 50 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. (Margins calculated in GAAP terms.)

Looking ahead
Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $1.60 billion. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is $0.53.
