This Memorial Day, EQT is Honoring Veterans' Taxi Drivers by Providing Each with a Week's Worth of Free Gas

PITTSBURGH--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- When EQT Corporation opened its compressed natural gas (CNG) station in downtown Pittsburgh in July of 2011, one of the first local companies to become a regular customer was Veterans' Taxi, a transportation service that employs military veterans as drivers and uses vehicles that run on natural gas.

For Memorial Day, and in honor of the service they made to their country, EQT is providing each of the drivers of Veterans' Taxi with a gift card for the equivalent of a week's worth of gas from EQT's CNG station. The majority of the drivers for Veterans' Taxi need to fuel up every day, and often two times a day.

"We wanted to do something nice for this customer not only to pay tribute to the service the drivers gave to their country, but also to show our appreciation for their patronage from the very beginning," said David Ross, EQT Vice President of Demand Development. "Like any new venture, our CNG station had some growing pains as we worked to accommodate the increasing customer interest and Veterans' Taxi drivers were patient and committed to using the station."

In operation since 2010, Veterans' Taxi is the only Pittsburgh-area service with a fleet that runs on CNG, which is much less expensive than gasoline, making a big difference to the company's drivers, who are independent contractors and pay for fuel.

"By using CNG, drivers are already able to put more money in their pockets than if they used regular gasoline," said Robert DeLucia, CEO of Veterans' Taxi. "This gift of appreciation from EQT will stretch their dollars even farther."

Due to the high volume of vehicles utilizing EQT's fueling station, the Company recently added two more fuel dispensers. The station now has the ability to fuel a total of eight vehicles simultaneously to service the growing number of fleets and consumers who are converting to NGVs as a way to save money and use a clean fuel source from the Pennsylvania region.
