MDU Resources Names Executive Vice President of Business Development

BISMARCK, N.D.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- MDU Resources Group (NYS: MDU) announced today that Dennis L. Haider has been named executive vice president of business development, effective June 1.

"One of the key strengths of our business strategy is the ability to bring our diverse capabilities together in many different combinations," said David L. Goodin, president and chief executive officer. "To take full advantage of that strength, Dennis will coordinate our business development activities across our individual business units. This will give us a better perspective on opportunities for our business units to collaborate on projects with broader scope and scale than they could pursue separately."

MDU Resources invested more than $900 million last year and plans to invest another $3.9 billion, exclusive of acquisition opportunities, over the next five years to grow the corporation.

"In addition, Dennis will continue building on the strong business relationships in the Bakken, an area of importance to all of our businesses, which have been developed by Bill Schneider, our Bakken development executive who will retire in June," Goodin said.

"Dennis is ideally suited for this key role in the corporation. He has extensive experience in business and economic development, as well as operational experience in most of our lines of business. He is an exceptional leader who has the ability to work collaboratively across all of our businesses."

Since 2008, Haider has been executive vice president of marketing, gas supply and business development for MDU Resources' utility group, which serves nearly 1 million customers across eight states. He joined Montana-Dakota Utilities in 1978, working in positions of increasing responsibility in the natural gas division, including leadership of gas supply and transportation, strategic planning and regulatory affairs. His leadership experience extends across other MDU Resources companies, including vice president of operations for WBI Energy and president of both Prairielands Energy Marketing and WBI Energy Services.
