AMD Says It's Launched World's Fastest Notebook Graphics Card

Today, Advanced Micro Devicesintroduced a new notebook graphics card called the Radeon HD 8970M, and the company claims it's the world's fastest.

According to Matt Skynner, corporate vice president and general manager of AMD's Graphics Business Unit, "The AMD Radeon HD 8970M GPU is the perfect combination of technologies, blending performance, immersive features and an extensive battery life that delivers an unrivaled gaming experience, even on the go." AMD's new GPU sports speeds of 850 MHz (with up to 900 MHz boost) and up to 4GB GDDR5, a high-performance memory storage.

The new Radeon graphics card is built for top-of-the-line PC games. It maximizes graphics while running on multiple displays, all while optimizing battery power. The company said in a press release that the Radeon HD 8970M is "the ideal entertainment and productivity tool that provides smooth video playback and maximizes image quality for all of your multimedia needs."
